Yummy Dog Treat Yogurt Icing

There’s nothing more special than a frosted canine cookie! And of course, your pampered pup will appreciate the extra delicious touch.

The nice thing about this recipe (besides how quick and simple it is!) is that yogurt chips have a nice mild sweetness to them, but they don’t contain all the fat and sugar of regular white chocolate.

You’ll need…

Ingredients:

1 cup of yogurt chips

½ cup of water

Optional: 1 teaspoon coconut (or canola) oil

Optional: Food coloring

Time Required:

5 minutes

Servings:

This recipe should frost between 15 and 30 homemade dog treats, depending on their size.

Step 1

Pour the yogurt chips into a bowl and microwave for 30 seconds to gradually melt them. Stir and place back in the microwave for 30 second intervals, until all chips have melted. (Stirring in between cooking times.) This usually takes anywhere from 1 – 1½  minutes total depending on your microwave.

Step 2

Gradually stir water into the warm melted chips to give the icing a more fluid consistency.

Step 3

Add in the oil, if you want your frosting to have a glossy appearance, and stir. And if you’d like to color the icing, you can add a drop or two of food coloring now, too.

Step 4

Dip your baked dog treats into the yogurt frosting, or brush it over the tops to glaze them. Just be sure to allow the frosting to cool completely before giving treats to your dog. 🙂

TIP! For a dog-friendly, non-chocolate version of this icing, you can substitute the yogurt chips with carob chips.

Hi, Angelica, thanks for reaching out to us with your question! There are several good brands of yogurt chips you can use. One that we like is called Yupik Yogurt Chips because they’re made with real yogurt. You can find them on Amazon at https://amzn.to/33RxQlQ

      Hope this helps!
