Dollar Tree Wooden Angel Ornament

Move over, fancy Christmas ornaments. These little angels are stealing the spotlight! 😇

We’re giving some humble Dollar Tree wooden hearts, toy blocks, and beads a heavenly makeover this week! With a rustic white finish, adorable little holiday trinkets and rose gold beaded halos, these DIY angel ornaments are proof that a little creativity goes a long way.

They’re simple, inexpensive and so stinkin’ cute that making just one might be the hardest part of the whole project!

You’ll need…

  1.  For each angel, you’ll need one wood heart, block, and bead. Give everything a light coat of white paint. We like to use a dry brush technique with the least amount of paint on your brush so they look weathered and rustic. Let dry.
  2. Lightly sand around the edges of the heart and block to give the pieces a worn look.
  3. Glue a bead onto one end of a wood block for the angel’s head.
  4. Take a small piece of twine and wrap it around the block loosely for the arms. Trim to size. Before gluing the ends of the twine in place, consider what the angel will be holding. If it’s a button, you might want to string the button or tiny bells onto the twine first. Glue only the ends of the twine toward the top of the block, just under the “shoulders”. The object on the twine should dangle at the waist.
  5. Next, glue the wood heart onto the back of the block for the wings.
  6. Place the gold ring on top of the bead for the halo and adhere it in place. Then tuck a wire ornament hook into the bead’s hole and add lots of glue to secure it. Hang and enjoy!

Don’t you just love how each little angel has its own festive personality, with tiny arms holding a special Christmas treasure? They’re quick to make and absolutely tree-mendous! Before you know it, you’ll have a whole choir of cuties ready to deck the halls!
