12 Jul Dollar Tree DIY Welcome Summer Sign
Let’s celebrate the first official days of Summer with a bright and cheery Dollar Tree DIY makeover! Today’s craft project is all about welcoming those sunny, beachy vibes into your home—think colorful sunsets over the water, plaid sundresses, toes in the sand and a pup at your side.
First thing you’ll need is one of those cute metal Welcome signs from Dollar Tree. Mix in a few acrylic paints, a piece of wood, some letters and ribbons… then before you know it, you’ll have a burst of happy sunshine for your front door. 😎
Many of the supplies can be found at your local Dollar Tree, but if you need a Dollar Tree alternative check out the list below of similar items from Amazon.
You’ll need…
- Wood shelf kit or scrap of wood
- Metal welcome sign
- Acrylic paints in a variety of colors
- Paw print cookie cutter
- Set of 1 inch wood letters
- 3/8 in plaid ribbons
- Pencil
- Fabric glue or hot glue
- Scissors
- Pliers
- Trace the paw print cookie cutter 6 times along a board that’s about 5×13 inches.
- Paint each paw print a fun beachy color. Let dry.
- Glue wood letters to each paw to spell out SUMMER.
- Use pliers to take the Welcome hanger portion off of the sign and tie (or glue) it to the board using ribbon.
- If your board has holes at the bottom, you can thread a piece of ribbon through it to give it a polished look.
- Cut random pieces of colored ribbon to make a messy bow. Attach the bow to the hanger. Hang and enjoy!
When summer rolls around, it’s fun to splash some color around the house and garden or whip up some cool treats for our cuddly canines. And this Welcome Summer Sign is the pawfect way to capture all the summer feels and spruce up your front door!
