Dollar Tree DIY Sandy Paws Nautical Wreath

Here’s a beachy wreath for dog lovers that’s full of fun! Check out the cute sandy pawprint in the center that adds some beachy vibes to this unique and budget-friendly Dollar Tree creation. Brings to mind some of our favorite vacations with our pups – tails wagging and toes in the sand – as we walk along the shore.

If you’re on a tight budget and looking to make a nautical wreath to spruce up your front door, check out this cheap and charming DIY Sandy Paws Wreath. Hang this in any room or on your front door to bring a part of your favorite beach memories into your home this summer.

You’ll need…

Step 1

Tear a long 3 inch strip of the blue and white dog fabric and cut it into strips that can be wrapped ‘round the wreath form. Secure each strip with straight pins. Continue wrapping the wreath until completely covered.

Step 2

Wrap nautical rope 4 times around the wreath at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions. This will give it the look of a seaside life preserver.

Step 3

Remove the rope hanger from the top of the sign. Before you begin to decorate it, make sure you’re looking at the metal pawprint so you see channels (valleys) around the toes instead of ridges (bumps). Paint this side with a thin layer of white chalk paint. If you’d like, you can use sandpaper to rough it up a bit for a rustic look.

Step 4

At first we brushed mod podge around the edges and sprinkled sand on top to give the toes a sandy finish. But then we realized the holes in the sign needed to be filled in. So we turned it over, covered the holes with tape, then flipped it over again to fill the holes with mod podge and sprinkle them with sand, too. Ahhh – much better!

Step 5

Glue small pieces of jute into the channels around the toes and paw pad. And add stickers across the bottom that spell Sandy Paws.

Step 6

Use hot glue to adhere the metal sign to the front of the fabric-covered wreath. If you’d like, you can take a small piece of jute twine and tie it to the top to make a hanger.

Isn’t this just so fun?! From the moment you hang it on the door, you’ll be reminded of those relaxing strolls along the water’s edge with your furry best friend.
