12 Jun DIY Patriotic Pup Table Runner
Hey friends! As true-blue dog lovers, it’s only fitting to celebrate America’s birthday with a table covered with pups in the nation’s official colors.
So today, let’s have some star-spangled fun! We’ve got a no-sew project for creative pawrents that’s perfect for the upcoming 4th of July holiday. In no time at all, you’ll turn your backyard barbecue with family and fur kids into a star-studded occasion with this quick and easy DIY Patriotic Pup Table Runner.
If you can cut a straight line, you can follow this simple DIY tutorial. 🙂
You’ll need…
- ½ yard cotton fabric in a fun patriotic dog-themed print
- White canvas pennants
- Fabric markers or paint
- Double-sided fusible adhesive tape, ½ inch wide (or fabric glue)
- Pinking shears
- Iron
Step 1
The first thing to do is cut your fabric. The nice part about this step is that you can make your runner any size you’d like! Table runners are typically about 15-20 inches wide and any length you’d prefer.
Use pinking shears to trim the long sides of your runner, to give them a zesty zig-zag look.
Step 2
To finish the short ends, fold over about ½ inch of fabric, tuck fusible adhesive tape inside the fold and iron it in place.
Step 3
Draw red and blue paw prints onto about 6-8 pennants with fabric markers or grab a brush and some paint to make adorable puppy prints.
Step 4
Then, tuck half of your puppy pennants under one of the short ends of the runner by about a ½ inch. Place fusing tape between the runner fabric and the tops of the pennants and use an iron to activate the adhesive. Repeat this for the other side of the runner.
Step 5
Flip the runner over and tuck a little bit of the tape in between the pennants and iron them together. That’s it!
If there’s one thing better than a backyard BBQ come July 4th, it’s a festive table covered in patriotic pup decor!
