DIY Hearts & Bones Dog Wreath

Love is in the air! Ya know what that means? It’s time to create a dog-lovers wreath for Valentine’s Day! We are simply lovestruck with this easy-to-make DIY Hearts & Bones Dog Wreath that’s as lovable and cozy as your favorite sweater with a fun argyle inspired design. What a wonderful way to greet your guests in your entryway or inside your home!

You’ll need…

Step 1

Grab one end of your yarn, tie it around the wreath frame with a knot to secure it, and then continue wrapping the yarn around the frame until it is completely covered. You’ll want a nice snug fit – not too loose, not too tight. When finished, use the end from the knot to tie off the tail of the yarn. Cut off the loose ends and tuck the knot into the yarn to hide it.

Step 2

Using the red and pink felt, cut out 8-10 heart and bone shapes (roughly about 2.5 to 3 inches in size). Tip: After you cut the first shape, you can trace it as a template for the remaining ones so they’re all uniform in size and shape.

Step 3

Glue the felt shapes in place around the wreath, alternating with hearts and bones as you go. In our example, we also flipped the tops and bottoms of the hearts for a fun effect. Be sure to leave a few inches of space empty at the top.

Step 4

Using the leftover yarn, wrap the wreath making a crisscross pattern over each shape. To do this, wrap diagonally across the center of each heart and bone, as you move your way around the wreath to the right. On the last shape, start wrapping each shape again diagonally in the opposite direction.

Step 5

Finally, tie a bow with the ribbon around the top. If you’d like, you can use a twist tie on the back for a hanger…and you’re ready to welcome your guests for the most hound-huggable day of the year!

These quick and easy dog-themed wreaths also make great housewarming gifts, so once you’ve made one for yourself, why not share the love and create another one to give away. 💕Interested in more dog-inspired crafts? Sign up for our newsletter and never miss a thing!
