DIY Golf Ball Dogs

Ok, Father’s Day is almost here, right? So what do you get the doggy daddy in your life?

Well, we got this crazy idea to mix two of a guy’s most favorite things: dogs and golf. And after a few minutes experimenting with several simple supplies we had lying around the house, the resulting creation were these hilarious hounds that we’re calling DIY Golf Ball Dogs.

If your dog dad enjoys hitting the links, it’s the perfect time to give him a gift that will also celebrate his love for all things canine.

(Psst… if you wanna cheat and skip the whole DIY thing, we found these novelty dog golf balls that would make great dog dad gifts too!)

You’ll need…

  • A brown wooden bead, a pebble or a button for the nose
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun and sticks
  • Small wire cutters

Step 1

Let’s start by making the long and lanky dog legs. The tee ends are too pointy to use as-is, so we need to give more of a surface for the golf ball “body” to sit on. Using small wire cutters, a sharp knife or hand saw, cut the tips off of four of your golf tees. (Note, the fifth tee will be used later.)

Step 2

Cut a small circle of white felt and hot glue it to the tops of the four tees – sort of like you’re making a table top. Do your best to keep the felt flat and level as you press the felt down to secure it to the tees.

Step 3

Place a dob of hot glue on the center of the white felt to secure the golf ball body to the legs. And press all along the edges of the white felt to ensure everything is adhered to the ball.

Step 4

Cut and glue two teardrop shapes of brown felt for the ears. Then glue the remaining tee on the back for a tail. Add the pompom and bead for the muzzle and nose. For the final touch, add two googly eyes and you’re done!

Of course we think this is the best doggone Father’s Day gift for the best doggone dog dad. Just think of the fun you can have switching up tee colors and accessories…or even adding a touch of paint. You could make an entire pack of cooky pups that’ll bring a smile to your favorite dog dad’s face this Father’s Day!
