Fall Decoupage Pumpkin Wall Hanging

This week’s DIY is all about mixing textures, colors, and a little bit of whimsy to bring fall into your home.

We’re giving a simple ceramic wall hanging from Dollar Tree a fresh look with layered fall fabrics, rustic twine, and a festive bow. The mix of prints and patterns makes this one-of-a-kind piece so much fun to make. The result? A gorgeous girly gourd that’s ready to brighten up any wall or door knob in your house.

Quick, easy, and full of seasonal charm!

You’ll need…

  1. Begin by tracing and cutting out fabric to cover each section of your pumpkin. For our example, we alternated between two fall fabrics for each section, but as long as the fabrics you use are complimentary, you can use a different fabric for each section.
  2. Brush a thin layer of Mod Podge onto one section of the pumpkin and gently place the fabric on top. Press the fabric over the surface and remove any wrinkles. Cover each section with fabric. When you get to the sides, you may have to make small cuts along the fabric so that it wraps around the contours of the pumpkin better. Cut any excess fabric on the back.
  3. Glue a strand of jute twine in the channels between each section. This will help cover where the fabric pieces meet for a more finished look.
  4. Wrap the pumpkin stem with the jute twine and glue it in place.
  5. Embellish your pumpkin with a small faux flower, leaves, beads and a tiny bow, as desired.

We love simple fall projects that are affordable and oh-so pretty! And this little beauty is a mix of cozy textures and seasonal patterns that come together in the cutest way.
