Dollar Tree Dog Ornament Makeover

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and if you’re looking for a fun holiday project in honor of your pup this year, keep reading! We’ve got a cute one for you today that was inspired by a recent trip to the local Dollar Tree store.

We found a basic red and black buffalo check fabric ornament that can be quickly upgraded to a custom country Christmas dog ornament that you’ll treasure.

To create your own little canine-inspired keepsake this holiday season, simply follow the easy-peasy instructions below.

You’ll need…

Step 1

Paint the front of the ornament with a thin coat of Mod Podge and let it dry. This will make the fabric less porous and create a smooth surface for your vinyl decal to adhere to. (If you use a wooden ornament or one that has a smooth surface already, you can skip this step.)

Step 2

Apply the vinyl paw print onto the face of your ornament and use your fingers to press out any air bubbles or wrinkles. Then, coat the top of the paw print with more Mod Podge to secure it in place.

Step 3

Create a small bow with the paw print ribbon and glue it to the top of your ornament.

Step 4

For a little added personal touch, use the white marker to write your pup’s name, the year or a favorite phrase on the back of your ornament.

These make the cutest farmhouse dog ornaments – and would make fun gifts for all your dog-loving friends and family this holiday. They can also be a darling addition atop a Christmas gift or you can even hang them from your rear-view mirror to bring holiday cheer wherever you may go!
