Dollar Tree DIY Paw Print Magnetic Organizer

Today we have a super fun and easy craft that takes a bunch of items found at your local Dollar Tree and turns them into a handy-dandy Paw Print Magnetic Organizer.

But wait, there’s more! This nifty DIY can be done in two ways: a chalkboard or corkboard organizer. So take your pick and let’s get started!

You’ll need…

  • Scrap of doggie-themed fabric (fat quarter in size)
  • Paw print ribbon
  • Black chalk paint (optional)
  • Green and white acrylic paints (optional)
  • Find the following items at Dollar Tree:
    • Cookie sheet
    • Magnet-backed tins
    • Wood magnets
    • Jenga blocks (optional)
    • Adhesive corkboard (optional)
    • Mod Podge
    • Brushes
    • Scissors
    • Picture hanging strips
    • Chalkboard hearts (optional)

To make the Chalkboard Organizer:
Step 1

Paint ¾ of the cookie sheet interior with black chalk paint. Let dry and repeat with at least one more coat of paint.

Step 2

Cut a piece of your favorite dog-themed fabric to fit the remainder of the pan. Paint a thin layer of Mod Podge on the sheet to secure the fabric in place. Smooth out any wrinkles. Then, glue (or Mod Podge) ribbon to cover the transition between the chalk paint and fabric.

Step 3

Make a place for your chalk to sit out of three small Jenga blocks. Paint the blocks white and glue them together in a long row. Then glue the blocks to the side of your cookie tray. Because the sides are tilted out slightly, gluing your blocks on this angled edge will leave the perfect space for your chalk to sit.

To make the Corkboard Organizer:
Step 1

Cut a piece of your favorite dog-themed fabric to fit the pan’s interior. Paint a thin layer of Mod Podge on the sheet to secure the fabric in place. Smooth out any wrinkles.

Step 2

Cut a small piece of adhesive cork to the desired size and press it in place on the cookie sheet. Add additional layers of the cork so that it is thick enough to use a thumb tack. Then, glue ribbon to the edge of the cork board to finish the edges.

Then, all that’s left is to add all of the fun stuff to help you stay organized! You can add magnetic tins filled with paperclips or thumbtacks, hand painted magnets with paw prints on them, magnetic clips and notepads, etc.

To hang your doggie-themed organizer, use the removable picture strips and place it on the wall in your kitchen, office space or your child’s homework area.
