DIY No Sew Dog Print Half Apron

Looking for a handy apron to throw on while you bake up that next batch of delicious doggie biscuits? Then you’ve gotta give this super-simple DIY No Sew Dog Print Half Apron a try!

You’ll need…

  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Iron
Step 1

Cut a piece of fabric that measures 25 x 22 inches and place it right-side down. Starting from one of the short edges, fold ½ inch of fabric inward toward the wrong side of the fabric and iron it flat. Then fold it over another ½ inch and iron again.

Step 2

Place a piece of fusible adhesive tape under the folded edge and iron it in place. Repeat to create a folded hem on the other 22-inch side.

Step 3

To create the apron’s bottom hem, find the top and bottom of the pattern (if applicable) and fold the lower edge over ½ inch inward toward the wrong side of the fabric and iron it flat. Then fold it over another ½ inch and iron again.

Step 4

Place adhesive under the fold and iron it to activate the adhesive.

Step 5

Fold the top edge down ½ inch toward the wrong side of the fabric and iron flat. Then fold the top down again 1½ inches and iron it flat.

Step 6

Place three strips of fusible adhesive tape side by side along the entire length of the 1½ inch folded edge. Mark the center of the upper edge of the apron and the center of your long piece of ribbon. Align the middle of the ribbon with the center of the top edge of the apron and place the ribbon on top of the adhesive strips. The ribbon should cover the fusible adhesive tape.

Step 7

Place three more strips of fusible adhesive tape the width of the apron side by side on top of the ribbon.

Step 8

Fold the flap of fabric down on top of this layer of fusible adhesive tape, hiding the ribbon and adhesive completely, and then iron it flat. Note, it may take more time to heat and activate the adhesive, so be patient when ironing the layers together.

Step 9

Decide on the size and shape of your pocket. We cut a piece of fabric that measures 6 x 6 inches. Iron the top of the pocket down a ½ inch then place adhesive under the fold and iron it to activate the adhesive. Fold the remaining three edges of the fabric over ½ inch and iron flat to create hems (no need to fuse these hems).

Tip: If you want to add an embellishment or button to your pocket, now is the time to stitch it on – we ironed on a ribbon with the fusing tape and added a small button that coordinated with the colors of the apron.

Step 10

Position the pocket on the apron and iron three adhesive strips under the sides and bottom to secure it in place.

All done! You’re now ready to bake up your homemade doggie delectables in style. The finished apron is 23 x 19 inches, but feel free to make the apron bigger or smaller if you’d like.
