DIY Paw Prints Cupcake Liner Wreath

If you love the pitter patter of puppy toes, you’re gonna love today’s craft project! We recently purchased these pawdorable cupcake liners and knew they’d be perfect for a dog lovers art project – or even some homemade pupcakes! Don’t ya just love all the colorful paw prints? So festive and fun!

After a quick look-see for project inspiration and ideas, we found this beautiful crinkly-textured wreath from Kelly at Typically Simple and thought we’d give it a try.

You’ll need…

  • 14″ foam wreath
  • 50-60 paper cupcake liners (our faves are these dog-themed paw print ones)
  • 20-30 mini cupcake liners
  • Stick pins

Step 1

First thing is to remove the bottoms of about 50 cupcake liners. To speed things along, you can cut out several liners at a time. Note, the number of liners you need will depend on the size of your wreath base…so you may end up needing a few more.

Step 2

Wrap and secure the first liner around the wreath base. To do this, pin one end of the liner to the back of the wreath, then wrap the liner around the foam, and secure the other end of the liner in place with a pin. You may need to fold and tuck this end of the liner under, to ensure all pinning is done in the back.

Continue pinning the remaining liners to the base, overlapping as you go, until the entire wreath is covered.

Step 3

The fun continues with some flowery embellishments! Cut several small 1 to 1.5 inch circles out of cardboard. Then begin to squish and glue cupcake liners to the cardboard to create flowers.

Some of the liners can be twisted into a spiral cone shape, while others can be randomly squished into a cone shape. Glue the tip of the cone shaped liner to the cardboard and fill the circle shape with liners until you end up with a flower. Once your flowers are done, secure them to your wreath base with glue or pins.

Tip: Use both regular and mini sized cupcake liners to create different sized flowers.

Step 4

Finally, make a hanger by pinning or tying a ribbon to the top of your wreath.

If you’re all about decorating on a budget, this wreath is pawfect for that. And it’d be so easy to use different cupcake liners to change it up for any season, holiday or cuddly canine celebration!
