20 Sep DIY Hound Dog Corner Bookmark

There’s nothing better than reading a good book and curling up on the couch with your snuggly pup. So why not create a bookmark with that idea in mind?! That’s the inspiration for this DIY Hound Dog Corner Bookmark tutorial. This one is so easy to make and uses items you likely have lying around the house. In a matter of minutes, you’ll be able to recreate this charming canine…

You’ll need…

A piece of plain white paper 

A piece of brown paper

A black marker

Glue

Scissors

Step 1

First, we’ll make the base of the pup using an easy origami technique:

• Take your sheet of paper and fold over one corner to create a triangle.
• Cut off the excess and rotate your triangle so the long edge is at the bottom and the right angle faces up.
• Fold the lower right corner up to meet the top.
• Repeat for the left side.
• Fold these two back down.
• Flip down one of the top layers so that the point meets the bottom fold and crease flat.
• Then, fold each side flap back up and tuck into your bookmark.

Step 2

Once you have made your basic bookmark corner, take scissors and shape the very top of your corner bookmark (this will be your mouth). You’ll eventually have a tongue peeping out.

Step 3

Next, cut out the following shapes:

• a little black nose 
• some brown ears (sort of teardrop shaped)
• a brown patch for the eye 
• some patches for the back 
• a little pink tongue 
• a brown tail

Step 4

Once you have all your doggy piece cut out, glue them down with a little glue stick.

Step 5

Finally, draw on some black eyes and you are done! The next time you crack open your favorite book, you’ll have this cutie to hold your place.This hound pup is an adorable book “charm” and would be such a great gift as well.
