Step 1
Let’s start this dazzling dog Christmas wreath by creating the holiday hound sign. 🙂
Use this link to download and print the “We Woof You A Merry Christmas!” printable we made especially for you! Cut out the image and set it aside. You’ll use this in a sec as a template for the sign backing.
Cut a piece of foam core or cardboard slightly bigger than the shape of the sign. Now, take the image you previously cut, trace its shape onto the backing and cut it out.
Paint a thin layer of Mod Podge on one side of the backing. Add plaid fabric or craft paper to the backing. Paint another thin layer of Mod Podge on top to secure the plaid in place.
Now trim the white border from the from the printed image. This will be the center of your sign. Take the sign image and place it on the wet layer, pressing it flat to ensure there aren’t any bubbles. Paint another thin layer of Mod Podge on top to secure the image in place. Allow your sign to dry completely while working on the rest of the wreath.
Step 2
Next we’ll create the linen burlap base.
Glue or tie one end of the burlap ribbon to the inner circle of the wreath frame. Pull a loop of burlap up from the back through the frame so that it forms a poof or bubble in between the first two wire rings in the frame. Then, gently pull a loop up into the next wire ring opening and the next one, until you have 3 poofy loops in a row that are about 2-3 inches long.
Twist the burlap ribbon before creating your next loop. This will help to anchor and prevent the poofs from easily pulling through the backside and unraveling. Continue making rows of 3 loops – working your way around – until the entire wreath form is filled. Cut the excess burlap and tie or glue the end to the back of the wreath.

Step 3
Make a large bow with the buffalo check ribbon and attach it to the wreath with wire or hot glue.
Step 4
Tuck and glue any winter greenery, berries and pinecones under and around the bow.
Step 5
As a final touch, glue your favorite rustic or red doggie ornament next to the sign…and you’re ready to welcome your guests for the holidays!
The great thing about this burlap wreath is that it’s super simple to make, looks dog-gone gorgeous and it’s easy on your wallet. (We’ve found similar ones selling for $50, $100 or more!) They also make great gifts, so once you’ve made one for yourself why not create a special one for your favorite dog mom or pet loving friend.
Here’s to a very Merry Woofmas!
