31 May DIY Washcloth Dog Party Favors
We recently attended a family wedding in which the newlywed’s happy-go-lucky pup, Berkley, was the lovable ring-bearer. OMGosh… just look at that FACE!! 🙂 As you can imagine, he stole everyone’s heart and was an instant celebrity!
With more and more people including their pups in family festivities, this trend is the inspiration for today’s tutorial.
There are few things cuter than an adorable puppy dog face, and these DIY Washcloth Dog Party Favors are the perfect gifts for baby showers, weddings, graduations, family reunions, retirement parties, and well, the list goes on and on…
Each one seems to have their own personality, which makes them so much fun to make and they’re surprisingly easy to put together, when you know how.
You’ll need…
- Set of solid white washcloths (or you can use beige, brown, grey or black, too!)
- Brown felt sheets
- ½ inch grosgrain ribbon
- 1 inch black pom poms (for smaller noses, use ½ inch size)
- Rubber bands
- Scissors
Step 1
Tightly roll opposite ends of the washcloth toward the middle.
Step 2
Fold the washcloth in half so that the rolled edges are on the outside.
Step 3
Secure a rubber band about two-thirds the way down the washcloth.
Step 4
Now let’s make the head. Push downward on the folded end to create a double-fold (from the side, this looks like a heart shape) and wrap a rubber band around one of the folds to create the dog’s muzzle.
Step 5
Place a pom pom between the rolls on the muzzle to make the nose.
Step 6
Cut a figure eight shape out of the felt that’s about 6-7 inches long for the ears and pull it through the other fold in the head shape. Adjust the ears, as necessary.
Step 7
Cut a 12-inch piece of ribbon and tie it around the dog’s neck to make the collar.
It’s time to Paw-ty!! Aren’t these just the cutest puppy dog party favors? The next time you throw a bash, you can let your guests know how much you appreciate them by sending them home with a gift in honor of your best furry friend…who will obviously be the star of the show.
