12 Jan Felt Flowers Valentine Wall Art
Some of the most beautiful works of art are made from a mix of shapes, colors and textures. Of course, they’re even better when they’re made in honor of our furry BFFs, right? 😉
This week, let’s make some mixed media mutt-lovin’ art for Valentine’s Day that’s super creative and budget-friendly. So simple, yet your friends will be amazed with your finished masterpiece! Shout out to Etsy maker @lizzyandlois for inspiration!
First take a trip to your local Dollar Tree and grab a wooden hanging heart in their Valentine’s section. Then snatch up some pom pom trim, felt roses, paper flowers, pink ribbon, heart-shaped buttons, and holiday table scatter (things like a bag of their little wooden LOVE pieces) – whatever pink and red crafty things that make your heart sing. Really, anything goes!
Then to make your piece extra paw-tacular, you’ll want to use a nice sized scrap of dog-themed fabric…something cute with paw prints in pinks and reds is perfect for this project. Hobby Lobby, Walmart and JoAnns are good spots to find your favorite fabrics.
Let’s get started!
You’ll need…
- 10 inch wood heart cutout or sign
- Scrap of pink or red doggie-themed fabric (fat quarter in size)
- ½ inch pom pom trim
- Mix of felt roses, paper or silk flowers, heart buttons, table scatter, etc.
- Small piece of ribbon
- Mod Podge and a brush
- Fabric glue
- Pen
- Scissors
- Remove any hanger on your wood heart, as needed.
- Trace the wood heart shape onto a piece of fabric. Cut this out and set aside.
- Paint a thin layer of Mod Podge onto the front of your wood heart.
- Place fabric onto the Mod Podge and press it into place. Be sure to push out any air bubbles that get trapped under the fabric.
- Adhere pom pom trim around the back side of the heart so that only the pom poms show from the front.
- Glue down your largest flower first. Then add a cluster of other flowers, buttons and embellishments to create a mixed media bouquet.
- Glue a small piece of ribbon to the top for a hanger.
- Hang it in a favorite spot and enjoy!
You’ll just adore how gorgeous and girly this Felt Flowers Valentine Wall Art turns out! It’s so pretty in pink (and paw prints!). The best part of this quick and easy doggie DIY is that it can be customized in so many ways to suit your fancy for Valentine’s Day! What fun!
