Turkey Pumpkin Gelatin Gummy Bones Dog Treats

We recently purchased these super cute bone-shaped treat molds and knew they’d be perfect for a batch of flavorful jelly jigglers (dog treats made with gelatin).

Gelatin gummy dog treats are really easy to make, healthy, and dogs love them! This week, we came across a quick and simple recipe from Melissa and Donna at Proud Dog Mom and thought we’d give it a try.

Not only are these Turkey Pumpkin Gelatin Gummy Bones super-tasty dog treats, but they’re also good for your furry friend’s skin, hair, and joint health.

You’ll need…

¼ cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling, which contains ingredients that may be harmful to your dog)

¼ lb lean ground turkey

Water

Unflavored KNOX gelatin powder (1 packet or 1 tablespoon)

Silicone candy molds – We found some adorable bone and paw print-shaped ones that were ideal for this occasion!

Time Required:

20 minutes + 2 hours fridge time

Servings:

36 yummy treats

Note: The ingredients in the recipe are safe for most dogs to eat. If you have any concerns about what you’re feeding your dogs or questions regarding possible allergic reactions, please call your vet.

Step 1

Place ground turkey into a pot on medium high heat and add enough water to just cover the meat. Let cook for 15 minutes.

Step 2

Reserve a 1/2 cup of warm turkey broth from the pot and set aside.

Step 3

Remove the cooked turkey from pot and place into a blender. Add pumpkin and puree everything until smooth.

Step 4

Transfer the reserved broth to a mixing bowl. Add gelatin powder and whisk until the gelatin is fully dissolved.

Step 5

Pour the pureed turkey and pumpkin mixture into the mixing bowl with the broth and stir until everything is combined.

Step 6

Set your silicone trays onto a baking sheet before spooning the mixture into each mold. Place treats in the refrigerator for 2 hours, or until fully set. Store individual treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Once set, the wiggly-jiggly bones are ready to eat, but for a true gummy texture and feel, take the treats out of the mold and return them to the refrigerator on a plate uncovered to dry for a day before putting them in container storage.

No bones about it. You pups will love these!
