1 C mashed sweet potato
1/4 C diced dried cranberries
1/2 C quick oats
1/4 C flour
1 Tbsp coconut oil
1 Tbsp honey*

* Raw honey should not be fed to puppies or dogs with compromised immune systems.
Time Required:
15 minutes prep. Bake for 18-20 minutes at 350°F.
Servings:

Step 1
In a small skillet, cook the ground turkey until it’s browned. Add in the diced carrot and saute until carrots have cooked through. Set aside mixture to cool.
Step 2
Poke 4 or 5 holes in a sweet potato and microwave for 5-7 minutes. Set aside and allow to cool. Remove skin and mash potato.
Step 3
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix with your hands until well combined.
Step 4
Spray a large baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray. Roll turkey mixture into balls, slightly smaller than a golf ball and place on the sheet. Flatten each with your thumb.
Step 5
Place in oven that has been preheated to 350°. Cook for 18-20 minutes. Allow to cool, then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or place in the freezer for up to 3 months.
And look how they turn out…each one its own mini holiday feast! Your pup will definitely go crazy for these chewy dog biscuits. So if you bake these up, prepare yourself to be hounded for more!!

Posted at 05:56h, 24 NovemberI’m vegetarian, so there will be no turkey in my house. Can I substitute a non-meat variety?

Posted at 00:40h, 23 JulyHi, Valerie, Sorry for the late reply, but it’s such a good question, I thought I’d go ahead and respond. 🙂
I don’t think there’s a good non-meat that can be used to substitute the turkey in this recipe. Most of the pre-packaged vegetarian beefless ground products have onion powder – and sometimes other ingredients – which aren’t good for dogs. And although tofu isn’t toxic to pups, it can cause gas or bloat, and some dogs are allergic to soy.
So my suggestion would be to simply leave out the turkey from the recipe and see how it goes!
