02 Feb Stuffed Fabric Hearts on a Stick
Today we’re making the cutest little stuffed hearts on sticks that are simply paw-dorable! All you need is a few fabric scraps with teeny pawprints on it, some leftover batting, and some fun scrap ribbons and small embellishments you can easily dig up in your craft stash.
These pawprint fabric hearts are so fun and easy to make. Perfect for a dog lover’s Valentine’s Day craft or dog-themed wedding decor – you can stick them anywhere to add a whimsical loving touch.
You’ll need…
- Scrap of pink or red doggie-themed fabric (fat quarter in size)
- 3 inch heart-shaped cookie cutter (optional)
- Various embellishments such as silk flowers, heart buttons, flower lace ribbon, ½ inch pom pom trim, baby rick rack, etc.
- Poly-Fil stuffing
- Fabric glue
- 1/4 in dowel rod
- Pen
- Scissors
- Sanding block (optional)
- Trace a heart shape onto two pieces of fabric and cut them out. You can freehand the heart shape by drawing it directly onto the fabric, make a quick cardboard stencil to trace, or use a heart-shaped cookie cutter as a guide, if you have one on hand.
- Use fabric glue to attach both hearts together – but only glue the top and sides of the heart. (You’ll want to leave a space open at the bottom.)
- Lightly stuff the heart with some polyfil.
- Before you close up the end, tuck a wood dowel in the hole.
- Attach a couple of flowers, a scrap of lace, or tiny embellishments to the heart.
- Use the edge of your scissors or some sandpaper to rough up and fray the fabric edges.
- Tie long strands of rick rack or ribbon to the base of the heart – add a few more embellishments as desired.
- Tuck into a vase and enjoy!
There are so many ways to enjoy these little farmhouse cuties! You could also hang your hearts on a string, attach them to a gift, or place a handful into a rustic wooden bowl for a festive table centerpiece.
