21 Jun Floral Stained Glass Paw Print
Today has us feelin’ like SUMMER! ☀️ And that has us so excited!
‘Round here, we’re always looking for an excuse to craft, so we came up with a project that’s all about celebrating sunny days and being outside with our fluffy floofers. (Shout out to @sibster for the inspo!)
The coolest part of this trash-to-treasure project is the end result is simply stunning. A little paint, mod podge and dried flowers makes the most gorgeous “faux stained glass” you’ve ever seen! You’ve just gotta give this one a try!
You’ll need…
- Black puffy paint
- Assorted dried flowers
- Clear plastic take out container (the kind you get with a salad, cookies, etc.)
- Mod Podge and a brush
- Food coloring (optional)
- Wood skewers
- Craft glue
- Scissors
- Cut away the flat center portion from the lid in your plastic take out container.
- Draw a paw print shape that’s about 3 inches in size onto a piece of paper (or print an image you found online) and place the clear plastic piece on top.
- Use black puffy paint to trace the paw print onto the plastic. Let this dry. (Depending on how much paint you use, you may have to let it dry overnight.)
- Paint a thin layer of Mod Podge onto each section of the paw print.
- Place your favorite dried flowers in each spot and cover with another layer of Mod Podge to secure everything down. Let it dry.
Optional: Try adding a tiny drop of food coloring to your mod podge! You can paint this mixture as a backdrop to your flowers or simply fill in the small areas for the toes. - Cut around the outer black paint lines and glue a wood skewer to the back.
There are so many ways to show off your creation! Tuck it into a frosted birthday cake as a paw print cake topper. Use it as a plant stake with your favorite flowers in the garden. Or leave off the skewer and hang your gorgeous paw print in the window as a suncatcher.
We’d love to see how yours turns out! Tag your pics @houndhuggerdiy on social media so we can check out your paw print beauties!
