Spinach & Pumpkin Shamrocks for Pups

We’ve got some happy go lucky pups in the kitchen today, ‘cuz we’re whipping up a batch of yummy new spinach dog treats for St. Patrick’s Day!

Spinach & Pumpkin Shamrocks are DIY dog treats that are nutritious, healthy and so easy to make – and such a good way to add these two superfoods to your furry friend’s diet. Plus, your pup will absolutely LOVE them! Of course, we adore the wee little flecks o’ green, which makes them so festive!

You’ll need…

Ingredients:

1 egg

1/4 cup pumpkin

½ c of fresh spinach

2 T fresh parsley

2 T coconut oil

Approximately 1 cup of flour (plus extra for rolling)

Time Required:

20 minutes

Servings:

15 yummy treats

Note: Spinach, parsley and pumpkin are safe for dogs to eat. If you have any concerns about what you’re feeding your dogs or questions regarding possible allergic reactions, please contact your vet.

Step 1

Finely chop the spinach and parsley and add to a large bowl. Mix in the wet ingredients, stir together the egg, pumpkin and 1 tablespoon of oil.

Step 2

Now start adding flour a little bit at a time to thicken the dough. Add in the remaining tablespoon of oil to give it the right consistency.

Step 3

Dust your workspace with flour and turn your mixed dough out. Roll dough until it’s about 1/4″ thick. Cut with a shamrock cookie cutter or simply cut into small squares and place onto a non-stick baking sheet.

Step 4

Bake at 350°F for 18-20 minutes or until cookies are lightly browned on the bottom. You can store treats in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks or place in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Once they cool, you can share your homemade dog treats with your furry BFFs. These holiday canine crunchies are so quick, easy and delicious… and definitely treats your doggo will woof for!

I am trying to make gluten free snacks to replace the standard M***bone treat for potty time. I made these with frozen kale ( I thought I had spinach) and coconut flour. I have never used coconut flour and it was a little challenging for baking, I had to play with the ingredients to get it into a dough and then had to just press them out. All my challenges did phase the dogs reaction. They woofed them down and were looking for more. Thank you for the recipes, now I am on to make a no bake snowball and one of the frozen treats which is probably going to be pumpkin and peanut butter because I forgot banana…. it is a good thing my dogs are not judging me based off the recipe!
