25 Feb Lucky Layered Ribbon Heart

Sometimes the best projects are the ones that let you dig deep into your ribbon stash and simply have fun with it!

This week we’re creating a Lucky Layered Ribbon Heart wall décor piece using a simple wood heart base and rows of soft, touchable ribbons in fresh shades of green, cream, white, and blue-green. Plush velvet is tucked alongside rustic burlap and delicate lace, while cheerful polka dots, classic solids, and the occasional lucky argyle or checkered plaid add just the right amount of personality. The result is a richly textured DIY ribbon heart that feels festive for St. Patrick’s Day without going full shamrock overload.

This easy Dollar Tree–style craft is perfect for using up those pretty ribbon scraps while creating layered wall décor that looks far more detailed than the effort it takes. Simple, charming, and just a little bit lucky, it’s a fun way to add soft seasonal style to your home. 🍀

You’ll need…

• 10 inch wood heart
• Assortment of ribbons in green burlap, velvet, gingham, polka dots, and fun trims
• Variety of frilly laces in whites and creams
• Holiday ribbons with polka dots and shamrocks or retro clovers
• Raffia
• Fabric glue
• Scissors
• Hot glue gun and sticks

1. Lay your ribbons like stripes across the front of the wood heart and rough cut them to size so they fit the width of the heart.
2. Once you’re happy with the overall design or order you placed everything, use fabric glue to attach the ribbons and fabric. Let them dry and trim the excess around the heart.
3. Take a handful of raffia and form it into one large loop. Tie the loop in the middle with a cute ribbon to make a bow and glue it onto the heart.
4. Cut a piece of thin ribbon and attach it to the top for a hanger.

See? Nothing complicated here. Just simple layers, pretty ribbons, and a finished piece that looks far more detailed than the effort it takes to make it. Now all that’s left to do is find the perfect spot to show it off!
