08 Mar Farmhouse Ribbon Carrot Wall Hanger
This week we’re creating a fresh, new Easter DIY decoration to add to our kitchen décor – with a smidge of puppy love thrown in for good measure!
This Farmhouse Ribbon Carrot Wall Hanger is both easy to make and a fun addition to your rustic-themed home. Most of the supplies can be found at Walmart, Dollar Tree, or Hobby Lobby, so the project is super budget-friendly, but the end result is definitely high-end.
Of course, this doggie DIY wouldn’t be complete without a few little paw prints sprinkled in the mix. They’re the perfect reminder of all the times we spend cooking in the kitchen with our little furry sous chefs by our side.
So here’s to making your own Easter wall hanging that you and your family will carrot a lot about!
You’ll need…
- 12 x 6 inch wood board
- 1.5 inch orange plaid ribbon*
- Floral greenery
- Jute twine
- Black & white dog fabric
- Wood bead garland
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun and sticks
*Tip: If your ribbon has wires, you can easily cut your ribbon to length and then pull out the wires before you make your carrot.
- Glue the end of your ribbon near the bottom of your board. Then work the ribbon toward the top of the board folding it in a zig-zag pattern. Place a spot of glue at each turn, making the zig-zags larger as you go. When you’re done, you should have a triangular carrot shape. (Be sure to leave some room at the top for the next step!)
- Attach some greenery to the top of your carrot using hot glue.
- Next make a cute rustic bow from twine and torn fabric! Start by tearing off a strip of fabric that’s about 1.5 inches x 8 inches in size and set it aside.
- Wrap some twine around your hand about 6 times, pull the loops off your hand and pinch them in the middle. Then use the strip of fabric to tie a knot in the center of the loops. Cut the fabric tails to shorten them, as needed.
- Remove any existing hanger from your board and replace it with the natural wood bead garland. Or string about 10 loose wood beads onto your twine and glue the ends to the back of the board for a hanger.
Don’t you just love how this turns out?! This couldn’t be easier to make – and since heirloom carrots come in various hues of red, yellow and orange, how fun would it be to make a trio of these using different colored ribbons and decorate them any way you’d like?!
Here’s to a festive and stylish kitchen this Spring!
