Hey, hey, hey! The theme for today – no tricks, just treats!

It’s Halloween! And we’re celebrating this spooky holiday with some amazing drool-worthy and tasty dog treats. One of the things you’ll love about this recipe is that it’s a healthy and all-natural snack, so you can easily indulge your little doggos with yummies this howl-o-day. 

These Frosted PUPkin Dog Bones are guaranteed to make tails wag. And you’ll love how fun it is to dress these up with some simple fang-tastic frostin’!

You’ll need…

Ingredients:

1/2 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling, which contains ingredients that may be harmful to your dog)

1 T olive oil

1 c flour

1/4 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp turmeric

Frosting ingredients:

1/4 c cornstarch or tapioca flour

2 T of water 

2 tsp of honey

Dog safe food coloring (optional)

Time Required: 

20 minutes

Servings: 

20 yummy treats

Step 1

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until well combined. Then use your hands to incorporate everything together into a workable dough.

Step 2

Dust your workspace with flour and turn your mixed dough out. Roll dough until it’s about 1/4″ thick. Cut with cookie cutters or simply cut into small squares and place onto a non-stick baking sheet.

Step 3

Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes or until treats are lightly browned on the bottom. You can store treats in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks or place in the freezer for up to 2 months.

Step 4

While they are cooling, you can make the frosting. Add a little bit of water to your cornstarch or tapioca flour until you get the desired consistency. Mix in the honey. Add a drop or two of food coloring, if desired.

When the sun goes down and the spooks come out, it’s time to mix up a batch of these easy-bake treats for your four-legged furry fiends. They turn out frightfully delicious!
