10 Sep Dollar Tree DIY: Pretty Paw-tumn Centerpiece
Time to get crafty with another Dollar Tree DIY for fall! This week we’re putting together a very Pretty Paw-tumn Centerpiece that’s perfect for your next family feast.
Whether you’re a pro crafter or just trying your hand at the floral arranging game for the first time, you’re bound to find this beautiful doggie-themed one is easy to pull off and inexpensive to make. Best of all, you can get most everything you need from your local Dollar Tree.
Let’s get crafting!
You’ll need…
- Oval tub or galvanized metal container
- 2.5 inch paw prints print ribbon
- Styrofoam block/s
- Artificial flowers in lots of fall colors
- Small piece of cotton twine or rick rack
- Scrapbook paper
- Alphabet stickers
- 2 bamboo skewers
- Hot glue gun and sticks
- Scissors
- Wire cutters
Step 1
To ensure the ribbon is centered around oblong or oval containers, you’ll need to cut the entire length of ribbon you need in half. Wrap and glue one ribbon to the front of the container, then glue the other ribbon across the back. Finally, cut a small piece of ribbon, fold the ends over, and glue this ribbon vertically to cover up where the longer ribbon ends meet.
It’s much easier for square or small round containers. All you do is cut your ribbon, wrap it around the outside of your container, and glue it in place
Step 2
Insert the styrofoam into the bottom of the tub. If it’s not a snug fit, you might want to glue the foam to the bottom to secure it in place.
Note: Depending on the type and size of container you’re using, you may need more than one block of styrofoam.
Step 3
Use wire cutters to prep the ends of artificial flowers and begin inserting them into the floral foam. Keep adding flowers until your arrangement is complete.
Step 4
Time to make a fun fall banner to embellish the arrangement!
Cut 7 small triangles from scrapbook paper and adhere letters to each one that spell out PAWTUMN. Glue the triangles to a string to make a banner and tie or glue the ends of the string to small wooden skewers. Tuck the skewers into the centerpiece and you’re done!
With some colorful fall flowers, dog ribbon, and a festive mini-banner decoration, you can make this stunning centerpiece for your dinner guests to admire all season long.
