07 Mar Dollar Tree Wall Decor 5-Minute Makeover
Have you seen these wooden HOME wall hangings at your local Dollar Tree yet? They’ve got all the vibes of a rustic farmhouse with their jute twine and wooden beads. And they’re the perfect backdrop for a 5-minute Spring makeover using floral transfer rub-ons we had in our craft stash!
The beautiful thing about this project is that you can use just about any basic wooden wall hanging and your favorite rub-ons. And in a blink of an eye, you’ll be amazed at the transformation. With a little imagination, the possibilities are endless and the results are stunning!
You’ll need…
- Wall plaque with a simple saying on it (here are a few we like on Amazon this, this or this)*
*Or feel free to use a blank wooden plaque and write/paint your own saying on it before you add the embellishments! - Floral rub-on transfers and burnishing tool
- Detail scissors
- Select the rub-on transfers you want to use by laying them out in the pattern of your choice. A little bit goes a long way when it comes to thinking about placement. You’ll wanna be careful not to cover up too much of the lettering on your sign.
- Once you’re happy with the design, cut out the first shape, pull off the backing and rub the transfer onto the wood.
- Carefully peel off the top sheet, leaving the transfer behind on the wood surface. If you find the transfer has not adhered, you can lay the transfer back down and rub some more.
- Repeat steps 2 & 3 for each of the transfers in your design until the sign is complete.
What a difference a little zhuzhing makes – and they’re even prettier in person! We especially love the gorgeous Scandinavian folk art designs of these transfers. The set has so many florals and animals to choose from. Of course, the fluffy pup design just stole our hearts! 💕
