20 Dec Gingerbread Stocking Gift Bags

This week, we’re taking a plain brown bag you get from the grocery store and giving it a seasonal makeover! These festive DIY Gingerbread Stocking Gift Bags are so quick and easy to make – perfect for wrapping those last minute gifts for all the dog lovers in your life! 

All you need is a large brown paper grocery bag with handles, white paint markers, scissors and glue. Then let your imagination go as you add little spots of gingerbread detailing. This is so stinkin’ easy! Of course we threw in a few whimsical swirls, twirls, and paw print designs in ours as well. 

Fill them with ornaments, small gifts, or Christmas cookies (for people or dogs!) and be ready to receive “oohs and ahhs” from your recipients as you hand them out. 

We love a free craft, especially when it turns out so cute! This just goes to show you your holiday gift ideas do not have to be expensive or take a long time to make.

You’ll need…

• Plain brown grocery bag with handles
• White paint pen or colored markers
• Craft glue
• Scissors

1. Cut the bottom off from your grocery bag and then fold the bent flap down so the two sides lay flat together.
   Tip: Sometimes the handles are not lined up on your bag. If not, remove one and glue it into the correct position so both handles are even.
2. Draw the shape of a stocking on one side of your grocery bag and cut out both layers.
3. Flip both stocking pieces over so that any original printing is on the inside. Add glue around the sides and bottom of one piece and stick the two stockings together. Be sure to leave an opening at the top!
4. Draw your favorite gingerbread designs using a white paint pen or colored markers. Don’t be shy! Try customizing each bag with a name or fun shapes (paw prints, hearts, sports, clovers, stars, trees, pizza slices, rainbows, birds, flowers, etc.) mixed into your design making the gift bag more meaningful to your recipient.

Tuck holiday treats and small packages inside – and you’re ready to hand out gifts in style. What a great way to add a warm, personal touch to your presents this year! Your gifts are bound to be the hit of the season!
