Gingerbread Hoop Ornaments

There’s something about handmade DIY ornaments that make Christmas feel extra special!

This week, we’re turning simple embroidery hoops into adorable gingerbread-inspired ornaments, complete with painted swirls of “icing,” winter greens, and charming little embellishments.

They’re quick, easy, and absolutely adorable! These are perfect for your tree, as teacher or neighbor gifts, or even as the cutest gift toppers. You might just find it impossible to stop at one!

You’ll need…

  1. Paint your embroidery hoop in brown paint. Wipe off excess and let dry.
  2. Use white paint pen to make gingerbread swirls, dots and hearts along the outside edge of the hoop.
  3. Cut a piece of 5 inch burlap, fold it in half with the opening at the top, and place it between the two hoops. (This will create a pocket to hold your berries and greenery, so be sure to leave enough space above the burlap for the next step.) Tighten the nut on the larger hoop to secure everything in place.
  4. Tuck small bits of winter greens and berries into the burlap pocket. Glue them in place, if need be.
  5. Attach a cute gingerbread embellishment on the front of the burlap.
  6. Make a long velvet bow and loop. Attach to the top and it’s ready to hang!

These gingerbread hoops are a little reminder that the best holiday memories often start with simple supplies, a bit of paint, and time spent creating something from the heart.
