This floppy dog basket liner is the perfect Spring DIY project! And without the need to measure and sew, it’s a great last-minute craft you can make in a matter of minutes. Such a fun way to spruce up your dog’s basket and celebrate Easter in style!

You’ll need…

A small to medium-sized wicker basket
1 white terry cloth hand towel*
2 washcloths (1 brown, 1 beige)
3 felt sheets (1 dark brown, 1 light brown, 1 black)

Grosgrain ribbon
Hot glue gun
Needle and thread
A sharp pair of scissors

(*) Basically, you need a large enough hand towel to completely cover the interior of the basket, plus have enough material remaining to cascade over the edges of the basket by several inches.

Step 1

The first step is to neatly fit the white hand towel into the basket with the ends of the towel hanging over the edge.

Step 2

Cut out all the felt pieces that make up the face. For the colorful coat markings under one eye, cut a larger light brown piece and a smaller dark brown piece that are sort of oval or round in shape. Cut 2 black circles for the eyes and 1 small black heart for the nose.

Step 3

Hot glue these in place on the white terry cloth towel at the front of the basket.

Step 4

Place one washcloth on top of the other with right sides touching and cut out long floppy ears. Each ear uses a light and dark color, so cut out two sets of ears.

Step 5

Using needle and thread, hand-stitch around the two pieces of cloth for each ear, leaving the top of the ear open.

Step 6

Turn the ear inside-out so that the wrong sides of the fabric are now on the inside of the ear and hand-stitch the ears in place.

Step 7

Hot glue the corners of the white hand towel to secure them together. Then, using the ribbon, make 2 small bows and hot glue them to each side of the basket where the white towel is secured.

Step 8

Fill the basket with all kinds of fun and festive toys, treats and accessories for your dog. After all, what dog doesn’t want a basket of delicious goodies and special surprises Easter morning?

There you have it! An adorable Easter basket liner that you just whipped out in about 15-minutes. And although this basket liner is for Easter, it would look so cute at ANY time of year! Place it by the door with your dog’s leash and collar so you’re ready for walks, or keep it filled with your pup’s favorite treats in the kitchen, perhaps?!
