14 Jan DIY Winter Fleece Dog Bandana
DIY dog bandanas are one of the easiest projects you can make for your dog to wear! And this project has all the warmth and fuzzy pawfection your pup will love during those chilly walks in the park – ‘cuz it’s made with yummy soft fleece.
You’ll need…
- ¼ – ½ yard white fleece or blue fleece fabric
- Wool blend felt (blue or white)
- Embroidery needle and thread
- Beads, sequins, etc. (optional)
- Fabric glue
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
Step 1
The size of your bandana will depend on the size of your dog’s neck. As a guideline, you’ll start with a square piece of fabric for the base that is:
- 14 to 18 inch in size for small to medium sized dogs
- 22 to 26 inch in size for large to extra-large pups
Fold your square in half (diagonally) until the two points align and cut along, so that you end up with two triangles of fabric. You’ll only need one triangle for this project. So the other can be set aside or used to make a second bandana.
Step 2
Cut out a snowflake from the felt. (Do a quick internet search for a shape you like, print it on paper and use the shape as a template.)
Step 3
Then give it a little pizzazz with a few embroidery stitches, beads or sequins.
Step 4
Glue the snowflake to the bottom corner of the bandana and let it dry.
Tie loosely around your dog’s neck, making a double knot. Be sure that it’s not too snug. You’ll know it fits perfectly when you can easily get a few of your fingers in between their neck and the cloth.
And just look at these cutie pies! Now, imagine how precious and snuggly soft your pup will be wearing their new favorite winter fleece doggie bandana!
