06 Jun American Flag Stars
Get ready for another easy-peasy patriotic DIY! As usual, it’s inspired by a recent trip we took to the local Dollar Tree. This week, we’re taking two chunky wooden stars and turning them into a red, white & blue duo that comes together just like the American flag.
It’s a fun, fuss-free DIY that turns basic shapes into a sweet symbol of the season. With a little fabric, a bit of Mod Podge, and your crafty imagination, you’ll have a set of stars that’s perfect for decorating shelves, tiered trays, or tabletops this summer.
Cute, quick, and full of flag-inspired flair!
You’ll need…
- Two wooden stars (4 inch wide and 1 inch thick)
- Red and blue acrylic paints
- Scraps of doggie-themed fabric or patriotic fabrics (fat quarter in size)
- Mod Podge and a brush
- Scissors
- Sandpaper (optional)
- Paint the backs and sides of a star in blue and do the same for the other star in red. Let dry.
- Trace the blue star onto your favorite blue and white fabric and cut it out. Apply a thin coat of Mod Podge onto the front of the star and press the fabric shape in place.
- Trace the red star onto your red and white striped fabric. Cut out the star shape and adhere the fabric to the front of your red star with a thin layer of Mod Podge.
- This next step is optional. If you’d like your stars to have a more rustic look, use a bit of sandpaper and sand the edges of the fabric to rough them up a bit. And you’re done!
Here’s proof that great things come in twos! Pair them up for a patriotic pop that brings cozy, crafty vibes to your decor. You’ll find they’re perfectly suited for your centerpieces, entryway tables, or anywhere you want a splash of red, white & blue! ❤️🤍💙
