01 Nov DIY Dog-Lovers Doornament for Fall
The fall breeze and autumn leaves bring to mind the splendor of the harvest season, which means it’s time to decorate our doors with another creation inspired by our furry best friends. So break out the glue gun, dig up some doggie ribbons and pile on the leaves, pumpkins (and other fall stuff!). ‘Cuz we’re about to make this stunning DIY Dog-Lovers Doornament for Fall!
You’ll need…
- A shallow woven basket about 15 inches or larger
- A few burlap ribbons, any size – one ideally with an adorable dog print
- Imitation fall leaves, flowers, pumpkins or other embellishments
- Craft wire for hanging
- Hot glue gun and sticks
- Scissors
- Small decorative sign (optional)
Step 1
Using a shallow basket or woven tray as the base of your doornament, glue leaves around the bottom section.
Step 2
Next, tuck any pumpkins, pine cones, berries, etc. into the leaves and glue them in your desired spot on the basket.
Step 3
If you have a fall decorative sign, now’s a good time to secure it in place with glue, ribbon or wire. Finish adding any final embellishments until you think it’s good to go.
Step 4
Create a bow with the decorative wired ribbon and glue it in place with your hot glue gun.
Step 5
Use a small ribbon or wire to tie on the back as a hanger and it’s ready to go! This is such a simple and elegant way to decorate your door for fall without using a wreath! And the basket idea really brings home the idea of a bountiful harvest that is so spot on for the holiday season. Be sure to add your own special touches and hound-hugging embellishments and you’ll enjoy this DIY decor year after year!
