05 Nov DIY Fur Friends Fall Burlap Wreath
With Thanksgiving approaching, this month is all about gratitude, fall leaves, good food, friends and family. So it’s time to create some festive fur-friend decor for your front door – and we’ve got just the thing in mind!
An easy-peasy, burlap breezy Fall wreath in honor of your very best four-legged fur friends that you can whip up in just a few minutes.
You’ll need…
- 16″ foam wreath
- 2-3 rolls of linen burlap ribbon, 5 inches wide, in white, yellow and orange
- Cute small dog-themed sign for Fall, such as pumpkin spice or thankful
- Imitation fall leaves, flowers, pumpkins or other embellishments
- Hot glue gun and sticks
- Straight pins
- Scissors
- Jute twine or 1.5 inch burlap ribbon
Step 1
Cut the burlap in half lengthwise. Make about 4-6 long strips that are about 2 feet long in each color.
Step 2
Secure the end of the white burlap with straight pins and wrap it around the wreath. Overlap the remaining white strips over the first one until about a quarter of the frame is “filled in” and you don’t see much of the wreath base anymore.
Repeat the process with the remaining colors – creating a section of yellow, orange and yellow again – until the wreath is completely covered.
Tip: Try to wrap the burlap so the raw (cut) edge is covered (and the finished edge is on top) as you wind the strips around the frame.
Step 3
Glue the doggie sign to the front of the wreath and tuck and glue your fall leaves and berries under and around the sign.
Step 4
Attach a hanger at the top using twine or burlap ribbon.
The great thing about this burlap wreath is that it’s super simple to make, looks dog-gone cute and it’s easy on your wallet. And it’s a fun way to let your guests know you’re thankful for your dog – the pup-kin spice of your life – and your very best friend.
