Apple Cinnamon Doggie Donuts

The scent of warm apples and cinnamon stirs up feelings of home and family. And there’s nothing like seeing your furry best friends jump for joy when they bite into something you’ve made.

These Apple Cinnamon Doggie Donuts treats never fail to elicit happy puppy feet and wagging tongues – and they’re so quick and easy to bake – which means donuts aren’t just for breakfast anymore!

You’ll need…

Donut-shaped silicone pan (or mini muffin tray)

Ingredients:

1/4 cup water

1/3 cup applesauce

1 egg

1 tbsp. coconut oil

2 tbsp. honey

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp baking powder

1 cup flour

Time Required:

20 minutes

Servings:

8-15 yummy treats

Note: The ingredients in the recipe are safe for most dogs to eat. If you have any concerns about what you’re feeding your dogs or questions regarding possible allergic reactions, please call your vet.

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder and cinnamon.

Step 2

Add egg, water, applesauce, honey and oil into the flour mixture. Stir until incorporated.

Step 3

Spoon dough into donut-shaped molds, so they’re just under half full.

Step 4

Bake at 350°F for 10-15 minutes. Cool on the counter for a softer chew – or let them cool in the oven for a crunchier treat. You can store treats in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks or place in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Then, if you’d like, you can frost the donuts with dog-friendly icing that hardens!

You’ll need…

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons cornstarch (you can also use rice or potato flour)

2 teaspoons water

1 teaspoon honey

Food coloring (optional)

Your ingredient list states Baking powder, but the instructions are saying baking soda. Which is the correct ingredient. Thanks much!

Oh, thanks for the catch! The recipe calls for a half teaspoon of baking powder, not soda. We’ll be sure to fix that typo asap. 🙂

Hope you enjoy making these yummy donuts for your pup!!

Thanks for reaching out to us with your question, Kim. Unfortunately, we don’t have the nutritional analysis for these treats. A good rule of thumb to remember when offering high-value rewards and homemade dog biscuits is that they should be given sparingly, no more than 1 – 2 treats per day. 🙂
