08 Oct DIY Decorative Pumpkins for Howl-oween
These DIY Decorative Pumpkins for Howl-oween are a perfect way to let fall begin to creep into your home. Anything goes – which means they’re so fun and easy to make – and fit right into your home’s hound doggie fall decor!
You’ll need…
- Scraps of doggie-themed fabric (fat quarter in size)
- Real pumpkin
- Paw print ribbons, ric rac, jute twine, etc.
- Mod Podge and a brush
- Hot glue gun and sticks (optional)
- Scissors and/or pinking shears
- Fall leaves, plastic spiders, other embellishments, etc. (optional)
Step 1
Begin by cutting your fabric into strips. The width and length will depend on the size of your pumpkin. No need to be exact. Pinking shears will help keep the fabric from fraying, if you have them.
Step 2
Use Mod Podge to apply the fabric strips to the pumpkin. First paint a section of the pumpkin generously with Mod Podge and then smooth a piece of fabric onto the pumpkin, top to bottom. Continue applying each strip, spacing them out evenly as you work your way around. Paint a layer of Mod Podge over the fabric to secure everything in place.
Step 3
Embellish the top of your pumpkin with a spooky spider, some colorful fall leaves or other halloweenie decoration. You can even create a messy bow using tiny strips of fabric, ribbons, ric rac trim or twine that coordinates with your decorated pumpkin.
These doggie holiday pumpkins are un-boo-lievably cute! So festive, so fun! And you’ll love how quick and easy they are to make.
