28 Aug Cool As A Cucumber Dog Treats
Our friend and canine nutritionist, Johnna Devereau of Bow Wow Labs stopped by this week to demonstrate a favorite frozen yogurt recipe for pups and we couldn’t be more excited to join in the fun!
Best part? These Cool As A Cucumber Dog Treats are not only nutrient-dense Scooby snacks, but they also help your pups beat the heat!
You’ll need…
Small Pyrex bowls, silicone ice cube trays or candy molds
Ingredients:
2 cups organic Greek yogurt
1 cup sliced organic cucumber
1/4 cup organic blueberries
Time Required:
5 minutes + 3 hours freeze time
Servings:
20 yummy treats
This recipe calls for plain, unsweetened yogurt, however, all natural, vanilla yogurt is fine to use too. Regardless of which you choose, please make sure the yogurt does not have any of the artificial sweetener Xylitol, as it’s extremely toxic to dogs!!
Note: Cucumbers, blueberries and yogurt are safe for dogs to eat. If you have any concerns about what you’re feeding your dogs or questions regarding possible allergic reactions, please call your vet.
Step 1
To prep, rinse the berries and cut cucumber into small slices.
Step 2
Add yogurt, cucumber and blueberries into a blender and mix thoroughly.
Step 3
Then pour mixture into your mold and freeze for 3-4 hours or overnight. Once solid, remove the frozen treats from the tray and store in an air-tight container in the freezer.
Aw, now these are our favorite kind of chilly dogs! As your canine romps across the backyard to retrieve their much loved ball for the 1000th time, be sure to keep your cute and cuddly companion cool with these tasty frozen treats.
Note: We suggest serving these yummy frozen pupsicles outside…and just a few at a time (to avoid the dreaded brain freeze). If you give these to your pup in the house, the frozen berry treats will melt and stain your carpet!
