Nothing says welcome like a beautiful wreath hanging on your front door – and we think ones that are in the rustic, farmhouse themes are the most inviting ones of all.
So today we’ve got a fun and easy rustic DIY dog-lover’s wreath that’s paw-fect any time of the year! And can you believe something as amazing and gorgeous as this can be made with simple wooden clothespins?
This DIY Rustic Pup Clothespin Wreath is a great way to add modern farmhouse (or farmdog) flair to your front door. Best of all, there’s so much room for customization. You can create a look to match your existing decor and top it off with your favorite furry friend embellishments!
You’ll need…
- 16″ wire wreath frame
- 80-100 wooden clothespins
- Assorted acrylic paints
- Paintbrush
- Dog-themed sign or embellishment
- Twine
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks (optional)
Step 1
Start by painting the wooden clothespins in your favorite variety of colors. Any ole paint will do… you can use whatever acrylic and chalk paints you have lying around the house.
For a more rustic look, you can brush each clothespin with water first to wet the wood surface. Then use the least little bit of paint on your brush to color the clothespin. This will give the clothespin a wonderfully weathered and worn look.
Step 2
Once the colorful clothespins are dry, it’s time to attach them to the wire frame. Pins are clipped either to the inner two wire rings of the frame or to the middle two rings, as shown here. Continue attaching pins around the entire frame, alternating colors and placements as you go.
Step 3
For the final touch, secure your doggie themed sign or embellishment to the wreath using twine or glue. Then tie a loop of twine at the top to hang your beautiful creation!
