10 Jul Carrot & Pumpkin Birthday Pupcakes
Treat your favorite pup to these delicious and easy homemade Carrot & Pumpkin Pupcakes!
Yesterday, we celebrated LuLu, our sweet Basset Hound. She turned one! And in honor of this momentous occasion we decided to have a little party for the sweetest, goofiest little girl ever. Obviously a party’s not a party without yummy treats, so I made some very special homemade pupcakes, and as you can see, they really got her tongue a-waggin’.
These delicious homemade Carrot & Pumpkin Pupcakes are so quick and easy to make… you should definitely whip up a batch for your next pup party!! 😋
Ingredients:
1 Medium Carrot
3 Tablespoon Pumpkin Puree (Be sure it’s pure pumpkin and not a canned pumpkin pie mix – the spices can be toxic to dogs!)
4 oz. Applesauce
1 Teaspoon Honey
1 Egg
1/2 Cup Quick Oats
1/4 Cup Coconut Flour (can substitute for whole wheat flour)
1/4 Cup Tapioca Flour (can substitute for whole wheat flour)
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
18 Blueberries
Vanilla Yogurt (for frosting)
Time Required:
10 minutes + 20-25 minutes cooking time
Servings:
6 yummy pupcakes
This recipe calls for vanilla yogurt for the frosting. All natural, vanilla yogurt is ok and shouldn’t bother your dog, but you can substitute plain Greek yogurt or all natural peanut butter. Regardless of which you choose, please make sure what you use for the frosting DOES NOT CONTAIN the artificial sweetener XYLITOL. It’s extremely toxic to dogs!!
Note: Carrot, pumpkin, blueberries and yogurt are safe for dogs to eat. If you have any concerns about what you’re feeding your dogs or questions regarding possible allergic reactions, please call your vet.
Instructions:
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350º F and grease a muffin tin.
Step 2
In a large bowl, grate your carrot and then add in the pumpkin, applesauce, honey and egg. Mix together.
Step 3
In another bowl, mix the flours, oats, and baking powder together.
Step 4
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
Step 5
Spoon the mixture into the muffin tins, filling the cups about two thirds full.
Step 6
Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or when a inserted toothpick comes out clean.
Step 7
Allow the pupcakes to cool, then “frost” with yogurt and arrange tops with blueberry paw prints.
How sweet are these?!! So cute and tasty…and the perfect way to let your pup celebrate their special day.
Important Tip! These pupcakes are rather dense so I recommend breaking them up when serving and be sure to supervise your pup while they enjoy.
