13 Aug Beach Vibes Wood Round
Have you noticed…everywhere you look, it’s pumpkins, ghosts, and Christmas trees already? Well, we have one more summer DIY in us… and we think it’s the perfect way to wrap up the season. ☀️
Inspired by the colors of the ocean and treasures you might discover along the shoreline, this week’s Dollar Tree DIY transforms simple wooden sea creatures into a bright and cheerful summer wreath for your front door, porch, or beach-themed décor. With watery scrapbook paper, sandy textures, and just a hint of sparkle, this easy project brings all the fun of a day at the beach right to your home.
If you’re not quite ready to trade flip-flops for sweaters, this easy-breezy craft project is for you!
You’ll need…
- 10 inch wood round
- Sheet of 11×11 inch scrapbook paper in a water/beach design
- Variety of 3-inch wood sea creatures like these or these
- Several blue markers or blue acrylic paints
- White sand
- Mod Podge and brush
- Hot glue gun and sticks
- Scissors
- Sandpaper
- Pencil or pen
- Trace the wood round onto a large piece of scrapbook paper and cut it out. Give one side of the wood round a nice even coat of Mod Podge and adhere the paper to the wood. Gently smooth out any wrinkles and sand the edges of the paper to remove the excess. Set aside.
- Use paint or fine-tip markers to color the sea creatures in shades of blue that match the scrapbook paper you’ve placed onto the wood round.
- This next step is where the texture and sparkle come in! Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge over each creature and sprinkle white sand on top. Gently press the sand in place and shake off any excess. Repeat this for each creature until they’re all done.
- Place these along the outer edge of the wood round in a playful pattern. Consider doubling up smaller creatures together to balance the larger ones…basically have fun with the design! Once you’re happy with the look, glue them in place, hang, and enjoy!
Whether your nearest beach is five miles away or five states away, this cheerful wreath brings a little sunshine, sandy sparkle, and coastal charm right to your front door. We hope every time you see it, you’re filled with that warm, carefree feeling of summer, even as the first cool breezes of fall begin to arrive.
