25 Jun Patriotic Placemat Pillows
You know how sometimes you spot something in a store and then you’re hit with a spark of inspiration thinking about all the things it could become? That’s exactly what happened when we found a set of adorable cotton placemats at Hobby Lobby this week. 😄
Instead of setting them on the table, we’re taking these star-shaped placemats and turning them into soft, cozy patriotic pillows for summer. This is definitely an easy-peasy DIY project you can do! No sewing. No complicated steps. Just a simple little 5-minute makeover that delivers a whole lot of red, white, and blue charm.
You’ll need…
- Use the seam ripper to gently cut along the placemat’s edge and make a nice sized opening (at least 4-5 inches).
- Stuff your placemat with a good amount of Poly-Fil, making sure to get enough stuffing into the points of the star shape.
- Once you’re happy with how full and fluffy the pillow is, close up the opening with a bit of fabric glue. Pinch the opening closed and let everything dry.
Honestly, these may start out as patriotic decorations, but we have a feeling they’ll stick around all summer long. There’s just something about that classic red, white, and blue color palette that feels like sunshine, backyard barbecues, picnic blankets, and easy summer living. Cozy, timeless, and just a little bit Ralph Lauren, they’re the perfect finishing touch for the season.
