14 May Patriotic Farm Truck Windchime

Hey there sunshine! 😊 We’ve got another simple little Dollar Tree makeover this week and honestly… this one belongs on a porch somewhere catching the summer breeze. 

We found a patriotic farm truck yard stake at Dollar Tree and immediately started imagining ways to give it a little extra personality. So instead of sticking it in the ground, we turned it into the cutest patriotic windchime for the front porch, back patio, or backyard tree.

The fun comes with all the layered details. The flowers in the truck bed pop with real faux blooms; tiny American flags are added to the truck doors; and the truck tires get a glow up with buttons for a fun 3D effect. Then we finished everything off with hanging red, white, and blue metal stars that sway and clink in the wind.

It’s cheerful, creative, and such a fun piece of Americana décor for the Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, or celebrating America’s 250th birthday all year long.

You’ll need…

• Wood patriotic truck sign
• Red, white and blue faux flowers
• American flag toothpicks
• ⅜ inch patriotic ribbon
• Red, white and blue hanging metal stars
• Jute twine
• Scissors
• Hot glue gun and sticks

1. Basically, you want to find as many spots on the truck that you can make 3D. The truck from Dollar Tree has a backend full of flowers. So gather a few red, white and blue faux flowers and glue them over the printed ones.
   
   If you’re using the truck linked in this tutorial, be creative! You can easily cover the firecrackers and top hat printed in the back of the truck with faux flowers as well. The printed American flag on this pickup would look adorable sticking out of a bed of faux flowers, so be sure not to cover it up!
   
   Pro tip: Try to make sure the bottom row of flowers creates a straight line along the truck bed. This will help with the illusion that the truck is carrying a load of flowers.
2. Next we glued two US flag toothpicks onto the doors in a crisscross pattern. Another option would be to make a small bow from patriotic ribbon to glue on the door as well.
3. For another festive 3D effect, glue white star-shaped buttons onto the rims of the tires.
4. Turn the truck over and glue three patriotic metal hanging stars to the bottom of your truck.
5. Attach a small piece of jute twine for a hanger and enjoy!
   

And just like that, a simple Dollar Tree yard stake transforms into a playful patriotic windchime with bright color, sweet little details, and a cheerful tinkling sound. Hang it on your front door, porch, or in the backyard and enjoy the way those stars sway in the summer breeze all season long.
