There’s just something extra special about a handmade gift, especially this time of year. The kind of piece that feels thoughtful, a little personal, and made just for someone you love.

This week’s Dollar Tree DIY turns a simple whitewashed tray into a soft and charming piece of spring décor with a frayed denim pocket, delicate faux flowers, and a sweet “BLOOM”, “MOM”, or “LOVE U” label. Finished with a simple jute hanger, it’s ready to display on a wall or tuck into a cozy little corner.

It’s the kind of project that makes a beautiful Mother’s Day gift for all the moms in your life…your mom, daughter, sister, best friend… or anyone who could use a little reminder to bloom right where they are.🌺

You’ll need…

• 8 inch whitewashed wood tray
• Scrap of blue denim fabric
• Scrap of cotton duck fabric
• ½ inch wood letters
• Faux spring flowers
• Jute twine
• Scissors
• Hot glue gun and sticks

1. Cut a piece of denim fabric in a half circle shape that’s roughly half the size of your wood tray. Pull threads across the top to give the fabric a frayed edge.
2. Place the fabric across the lower ⅓ of the tray and glue the left and right sides to the back of the tray. (Pull the fabric taut before gluing the fabric down.) Continue stretching and gluing the fabric around the bottom curvature of the tray until the denim is fully attached. You might need to make a few snips into the fabric as you pull it over and around the tray.
3. Cut a piece of fabric about 4 x 1.5 inches in size. Pull threads on each side to create fringe all the way around. Glue this onto the denim for a label.
4. Pick out letters for a fun phrase to attach to the label, such as BLOOM, MOM, LOVE U, etc.
5. Tuck a few flowers into the denim pocket and glue them down to secure them in place.
6. Attach a short piece of twine to the back for a hanger.
   

And just like that, you’ve got a sweet little piece that’s ready to gift or display. The soft florals, layered textures, and simple message come together in something that feels thoughtful without being complicated. It’s the kind of handmade touch that makes someone feel remembered.
