10 Apr Dollar Tree Picnic Party Tote

This week’s craft is basically sunshine in a bag. ☀️🍋

Walking through the garden section of our local Dollar Tree, we found the most adorable kid’s garden tote and somehow we knew this little garden helper had bigger dreams to fulfill! 

We’re turning this tiny carryall into a cheerful DIY picnic tote with bright lemon details and ready-to-go party essentials. All you need are some scraps of felt from your craft stash to make a playful lemon design (so on trend this year!), then fill it with coordinating napkins, plates, and utensils. The result is an easy Dollar Tree DIY picnic tote that works as both a practical grab-and-go setup and a charming garden party centerpiece.

If you’re ready for sunny days, fresh air, and a simple picnic spread, this week’s project is just for you!

You’ll need…

• Felt sheets in yellow, light green, kelly green, and white
• Lemon paper plates, napkins and utensils
• Paper cups in various lemon designs
• Lemon-shaped cutting board
• Lemon-fragranced moist towelettes
• Scissors
• Fabric glue

1. To make a simple lemon slice, cut a round circle from yellow felt and 5 white tear-drop shaped seeds. Glue the seeds onto the yellow circle with the points facing inward.
2. Cut a few leaves in light and dark green. Glue these to the back of your lemon slice. Attach this near the top of the bag’s front panel.
3. Make a couple whole lemons (one larger than the other). Cut out a few more leaves and glue the pieces together in a horizontal design. Attach this toward the bottom of the bag’s front panel.
4. Fill the main compartment with coordinating paper plates, cups, and napkins. You can also add a small lemon-shaped cutting board/serving tray, too!
5. Next, tuck utensils, straws, and lemon-fragranced towelettes into the side pockets. There are just so many ways to customize your carry!
   

This DIY is such a quick and easy transformation! And you can embellish the bag to match any theme…lemons, flowers, even party hats! With a few festive details and some bright picnic essentials, this Dollar Tree bag becomes a cheerful DIY picnic tote that’s ready for sunny afternoons, backyard gatherings, and everything in between.
