04 Sep Glowing LED Sweater Pumpkins
Fall crafting just got a twinkly upgrade.
This week we’re giving a simple halloween pumpkin from Dollar Tree a cozy sweater makeover…but here’s the twist: this one lights up! With its built-in LED light, your pumpkin decor not only looks soft and stylish during the day, but it also casts a warm, romantic glow at night.
Finished with felt leaves, homemade florals, and a rustic twine-wrapped stem, it’s the perfect mix of cozy farmhouse vibes and autumn elegance. Place it on a shelf, tuck it into a vignette, or let it softly glow on your porch for a little extra fall magic! 🎃✨
You’ll need…
- Wire-framed pumpkin with LED lights
- Old sweater
- Assortment of felt leaves
- Felt sheets in fall colors like yellow, orange, purple
- Jute twine
- Hot glue gun and sticks
- Scissors
- Remove anything covering your pumpkin frame (mesh, lace or fleece, etc.). Pull the LED component out from the bottom of the pumpkin and set aside.
- Cut a piece of sweater or fabric large enough to cover the pumpkin. If you’re using the Dollar Tree pumpkin, the sweater’s sleeve can cover the pumpkin nicely.
- Tuck one end of the sweater into the hole at the bottom of the pumpkin. Then re-insert the LED light and glue it in place. Note, feel free to add glue to the inside base of the pumpkin, as needed.
- Tuck the other end of the sweater into the top hole of the pumpkin and use glue to ensure the sweater stays put.
- Wrap the pumpkin stem with jute twine and glue it in place.
- Adhere some felt leaves to the base of the stem. You can make a few cute handmade flowers by cutting some .5 inch strips of felt, rolling them up and adding them to the base of the stem.
- Add batteries to the battery case, turn on the LED lights and watch your pumpkin give off a lovely warm glow!
So simple. So elegant. It’s the kind of project that makes your home feel instantly ready for crisp mornings, romantic nights, and pumpkin-spiced everything!
