01 Dec Dollar Tree DIY Pet Blanket Christmas Stocking
It’s a fun and festive time of the year for family, friends and our darling doggos, too! Of course the holidays wouldn’t be the same without including our pups in the festivities. And this quick and budget-friendly craft project makes it easy to do just that!
Learn how to make a Christmas dog stocking with two simple supplies from your local Dollar Tree. All you need is a red fleece pet blanket, one or two fluffy mop pads, a scrap of ribbon, scissors and some fabric glue…. you’ll be amazed at how beautiful it turns out!
Best part about these no-sew Christmas stockings? You can make them for everyone in your family, not just your precious pup!
You’ll need…
- 28 x 24 inch fleece pet blanket
- 1 or 2 microfiber duster/mop pads
- Small piece of paw print grosgrain ribbon (about 4 inches long)
- Fabric glue
- Paper and pen
- Scissors
- Start by ironing out any wrinkles in the fleece.
- Sketch out a stocking pattern onto a large piece of paper. Cut it out and use this for your template.
- Consider the pattern in the fleece and select the best placement for your template.
- Trace around the pattern, but add about a ½ inch more for seam allowance.
- Cut out your stocking shape twice, so you have a front and back.
- If your fleece has a front and back side, place the “right” (or front) sides together.
- Glue along the sides and bottom of your stocking to secure the two pieces together.
- Trim the mop head down to your preferred width and glue it across the top of the stocking. Depending on the width of your stocking, you may need to use a portion of the mop you trimmed away to fill in any gaps.
- Glue a small piece of ribbon for a hanger to the top.
- Fill with goodies and enjoy!
