15 Sep DIY Rustic Chalkboard Pumpkin
Fall is a wonderful time to get crafty! A big thanks to @domesticallyblissful for the inspo for today’s project.
Let’s make a quick and easy rustic chalkboard pumpkin with supplies from Hobby Lobby, Dollar Tree – and a few finds you likely have around the house. You can bet your autumn dollar this one looks way more expensive than it is to create. Best of all, this chunky wooden pumpkin gives your home all the feels for that farmhouse seasonal touch!
You’ll need…
- 11” x 2” thick basswood round
- Imitation fall leaves, flowers or other embellishments
- Small stick from your yard
- Black chalk paint
- Chalk
- Fall sign with tag from Dollar Tree
- Heat gun
- Natural wood beads
- Jute twine
- Paintbrush
- Hot glue gun and sticks
- Paint one side of the rustic wood round with chalk paint.
- Glue a few leaves, fall embellishments, and a small stick on top.
- Use the heat gun to warm up the glue under the tag on your Dollar Tree sign, so it’s easier to remove. Pry the tag from the sign with a flat head screwdriver or plastic razor blade.
- String a few beads onto a piece of twine. Create a loop at one end and glue the tag to the other.
- Hang the tag from the pumpkin stem.
- Glue a few more fall embellishments, if you’d like.
- Cover the painted side of the wood round with chalk. Then take a rag to rub it off.
- Use chalk to write a fun saying – and enjoy!
There are so many takes on the humble pumpkin, but this one has got to be one of our favorites! The end result is a stunning way to welcome friends, family, and guests – and you can easily change the saying to suit the mood or occasion.
