Oh my goodness, have we got a crazy-good canine craft for you!

During a recent trip to our favorite Dollar Tree, we came across this adorable sun bonnet that was the pawfect “blank canvas” for a fun makeover. We simply upped the fun-factor with flowers and fuzzy felt in honor of our furry best friends.

Super-fast, super-inexpensive, and super-easy… just wait ‘til you see how gorgeous it is when it’s done!

You’ll need…

Various silk flowers

Wool blend felt sheets in various colors

Floppy straw hat (from Dollar Tree or Amazon)

Scissors

Hot glue gun and sticks

Step 1

Grab your stash of felt and select colors that coordinate with your favorite silk flowers. Then, cut out five paw print shapes. For this example, we made two yellow, two green, and one pink paw print.

Step 2

Before gluing the paw prints down, you’re gonna want to space them nice and even along the top of the bonnet’s brim. Here’s a hint – The middle paw print should be positioned exactly opposite the pre-made bow at the bottom of the hat. Use the hot glue gun to secure everything in place.

Step 3

Begin to add flowers along both sides of the bow – using hot glue to adhere them to the brim. Just like the paw prints, we mirrored the flowers and colors on both sides of the hat. This gives it a nice balanced look, but feel free to go wild and place flowers in any pattern you’d like. Sky’s the limit!

The great thing about this bonnet is that you can hang it on your door to greet your guests OR you can wear it out-and-about to keep you cool and comfy on hot sunny days! Just think of all the compliments you’ll get from your dog-loving friends.
