19 Feb Dollar Tree DIY – Darling Dogs Cutting Board
Are you ready for a fun culinary craft for the kitchen? Of course, as always, it’s in honor of our bestest cuddly canine companions!
Ok, so Dollar Tree has these cute glass cutting boards (both round and square shapes) that we used as inspiration for today’s project. With a little bit of Mod Podge and doggie fabric, you can easily personalize your cutting board for any season or to fit any decor.
Wait ’til you see how these DIY Darling Dogs Cutting Boards turned out. They would be pawfect holiday or housewarming gifts… and a super-duper addition to a Dog Mom gift basket.
You’ll need…
- A tempered glass cutting board (best place to get it is Dollar Tree, but Amazon has it, too)
- Scrap of doggie-themed fabric (fat quarter in size)
- Dishwasher safe Mod Podge and a brush
- Xacto knife or paint scraper
- Scissors
- Rubbing alcohol
- Pen or pencil
- Super glue
Step 1
Remove the four rubber non-slip pads from the bottom of the cutting board using your Xacto knife. With a rag and a little rubbing alcohol, wipe off any glue residue that might be left behind from the pads.
Step 2
Place the clean board on top of your favorite dog-themed fabric and trace around the glass. Then, cut yourself a fabric circle the size of the board.
Step 3
Cover the back-side of the board with Mod Podge and place the right side of your fabric circle on the board (so the wrong side is facing you). Press out any air bubbles and trim off any excess fabric around the edges. Then add another layer of Mod Podge to secure and seal the fabric to the board.
Step 4
Once dried, use super glue to re-adhere the rubber pads to the bottom of the cutting board.
Oh-so quick and easy, right?! These custom cutting boards are top-rack dishwasher safe – and great for preparing all sorts of food or displaying hor d’oeuvres and tasty tidbits at your next pawty or celebration!
